Weller handed Vale trial
Port Vale are trialing midfielder Paul Weller following his release from Rochdale.
Port Vale have handed a trial to midfielder Paul Weller after he was released by League Two club Rochdale this week. The former Burnley player had been on non-contract terms with the Spotland club since late September, but his hopes of landing a permanent contract with Steve Parkin's side proved unsuccessful.
The 29-year-old will now try his luck with Martin Foyle's side, as he seeks a contract with a new club.
"We've got two trialists in, one from Australia and Paul Weller, who used to be at Burnley last year, he's coming in for a few days, so the door is open for a few people," Foyle told Port Vale's official website.
"Obviously, with our injury list at the moment - it seems to be mounting - we need to freshen the place up a little bit."
One player that is joining Rochdale is young goalkeeper Danny Woodhall, who has signed a two-year scholarship deal with the club.
The West Bromwich-born custodian spent seven years with Walsall and had previous spells with West Bromwich Albion and Burton Albion before joining The Dale this week.
