Notts County veteran Ian Richardson is aiming to return to action in early January after undergoing a second knee operation. The current caretaker manager at Meadow Lane initially required surgery on his knee after picking up the problem at the end of September.
A comeback against Bury last month only aggravated the injury and Richardson has now had a second bout of surgery on the knee.
The long-serving Magpie is hopeful the damage has now been rectified and he is targeting a playing comeback in three weeks for the League Two side.
"It wasn't a major operation," Richardson told the club's official website.
"It was just to wash out the remaining debris in my knee that was causing me problems.
"If everything goes to plan and things go well, I could be back playing within three weeks."
Meanwhile, the club have terminated the contract of goalkeeping coach Steve Sutton with immediate effect.
