Ipswich Town have cut short goalkeeper Lewis Price's loan spell at Cambridge United. The young shot-stopper had been gaining valuable first-team experience at The Abbey Stadium over the past few weeks.
Price had made six appearances for The U's and recently had his loan stay with the League Two side extended for a second month.
But an injury to Town rookie Shane Supple has prompted manager Joe Royle to bring Price back to Portman Road as cover for number one Kelvin Davis.
"We had hoped it would have cleared up by now and he's not been training fully but the physio team say that he needs a complete break for a week or two so we have had to bring Lewis back," coach Steve McCall told the club's official website about Supple's injury.
"It's a shame because he was getting some first-team experience at Cambridge and enjoying his football there.
"We spoke to Cambridge about the situation on Monday and agreed to let him play for them yesterday but he will be back training with us on Thursday in preparation for the West Ham game."
