Latics extend star's loan deal

Oldham have extended Neil Kilkenny's loan stay until the end of the season.

Oldham have extended Neil Kilkenny's loan stay until the end of the season.

Kilkenny initially joined Oldham a month-long loan deal from Birmingham, and he made an instant impact at Boundary Park.

The 19-year-old has been a pivotal figure in Oldham's recent good run of form and Latics boss Brian Talbot was keen to make his stay longer.

Kilkenny was delighted to extend his stay at Oldham, believing he has benefited from the experience.

"It's been good. It's toughened me up a bit more - it's tougher than reserve team football," Kilkenny told the club's official website.

"I still think we've got a chance of making the play-offs - it's the number one priority."
