Devaney put on list

Cheltenham Town have placed midfielder Martin Devaney on the transfer list.

Cheltenham Town have placed midfielder Martin Devaney on the transfer list after turning down the offer of a new contract.

Negotiations with boss John Ward have taken place over the past few weeks but Devaney has rejected the club's final offer.

The 24-year-old wide man is out of contract in the summer and is now having his name circulated to other league clubs.

Ward has stated that talks were amicable and that the door is still open for Devaney to ink a new deal.

"I think both sides have reluctantly reached this situation," said Ward to the club's official website.

"We made Martin an offer but he was not in agreement with it so we have both decided, reluctantly, that the best thing to do is circulate his name to other clubs to see if there is any interest from elsewhere.

"Martin and I have an excellent relationship and as long as he keeps showing the attitude he has displayed all season then I have no problem with playing him in the team."
