Nakata agrees l'OM deal

Japan international Koji Nakata has agreed a deal to sign for Marseille.

Japan international Koji Nakata has agreed a deal to sign for Marseille.

The full back has been training with l'OM for the past fortnight after being allowed to head to Europe by his club Kashima Antlers.

Nakata has subsequently negotiated an arrangement with Kashima which will facilitate his exit from the team.

During his trial at Stade Velodrome, Nakata has impressed the club's coaching staff and is now due to pen a deal.

He worked with l'OM coach Philippe Troussier with the Japan national team and is delighted to be signing for the Ligue 1 side.

"It is a great honour for me to play in a club as prestigious as Marseille," said Nakata.

Meanwhile, Marseille will be without Samir Nasri and Sylvain N'Diaye for this weekend's game against Toulouse.

Highly-rated playmaker Nasri has damaged his tibia and requires at least two weeks' rest, while N'Diaye has a slight thigh strain.
