PSG made Eric enquiry

PSG are believed to have made an enquiry for Eric Djemba-Djemba.

Paris Saint Germain are believed to be one of the clubs that approached Manchester United with a view to signing Eric Djemba-Djemba.

Sir Alex Ferguson revealed last week that he has received several enquiries for the Cameroon international and Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce denied press reports that he was an interested party.

It is now believed PSG contacted Old Trafford officials even though any deal would appear to be extremely unlikely due to the midfielder's large salary.

Vahid Halilhodzic was keen to explore the possibility of bringing Djemba-Djemba to Parc des Princes on loan, with United continuing to pay a percentage of his wages. The Bosnian has already expressed a desire to land Louis Saha on a similar basis but the response is likely to be the same from Ferguson, a flat refusal.

"I want to part with Paulo Cesar [who is in talks with Corinthians]," he said. "And hire a midfielder."

With Modeste M'Bami sidelined through injury, the capital club are pursuing a defensive midfield man.

Meanwhile, Djemba-Djemba is one of three Premiership players named in Cameroon's squad for their friendly with Senegal.

Tottenham's Thimothee Atouba and Chelsea's Geremi are also included but there is no place for Middlesbrough forward Joseph-Desire Job.
