Henry can't forget racist slur
Thierry Henry says he can never forget Luis Aragones' racially-motivated comments.
Thierry Henry insists he can forgive Spain coach Luis Aragones, but will never forget his racially-motivated comments.Aragones referred to the Arsenal striker in a racially derogatory manner at Spain's training camp, but insisted his comments were merely trying to motivate Henry's Gunners team-mate Jose Antonio Reyes.
Speaking at the launch of Europe-wide anti-racism campaign which he will spearhead, Henry revealed he would be prepared to meet Aragones but will never condone the veteran coach's behaviour.
"It makes me think of a proverb - you can always forgive but I will never forget," he declared.
"I could meet him, I would have no problem with that. I can forgive but it will always be in my mind.
"There is no possible reason to say something like that. When I heard about what he had said, I was preparing for a game with France and I thought someone was telling me a bad joke.
"But then I realised it was true. Surely there is some other way to motivate a player.
"I have had many bosses in my career and they have never said anything like that to motivate me."
Henry was joined by Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand at the launch of the campaign, and revealed he would be wearing a new black-and-white wristband to promote awareness of the issue.
