Celtic land Bellamy

Scottish champions Celtic have completed the signing of Newcastle's Craig Bellamy.

Scottish champions Celtic have completed the signing of Newcastle's Craig Bellamy.

Bellamy has joined Celtic on loan until the end of the season after completing his move to Glasgow on Monday evening.

The Scottish giants moved for Bellamy after he rejected a £6 million move to Birmingham City.

"Obviously, when a club like Celtic are interested in you, you take notice," said Bellamy.

"Traditionally, this club is magnificent and so is the manager and now I'm looking forward to working alongside Martin O'Neill and (Celtic assistant coach) Steve Walford, who I know well."

Bellamy is out of favour at Newcastle after his public spat with manager Graeme Souness - but he hinted he would like to return.

"I do love the club [Newcastle] and I am not ashamed of that," he admitted.

Celtic have now sealed a six-month deal for Bellamy and he will be a direct replacement for Henri Camara.

The Senegalese star was on loan at Celtic, but returned to Wolves and immediately joined Southampton.

Newcastle have confirmed that Celtic have an option to buy Bellamy at the end of the season.

"I'm absolutely ecstatic to have signed Craig until the end of the season," said Bhoys boss Martin O'Neill.

"I must also say a big thank you to Newcastle United for allowing us to have that offer on the table to be taken up.

"We do have an option to sign Craig on a more permanent basis at the end of the season."
