Blackpool part with McMahon

Young midfielder Stephen McMahon has left Blackpool by mutual consent.

Young midfielder Stephen McMahon has left Blackpool by mutual consent.

The 20-year-old first earned a pro contract with The Tangerines under his father, ex-Liverpool star Steve McMahon.

Subsequently, since Colin Hendry took over the reins at Bloomfield Road, his first team chances have been severely restricted.

The midfielder spent a period at Kidderminster Harriers on loan earlier this season, making six appearances.

However he returned to Blackpool after manager Jan Molby left the League Two relegation candidates.

Hendry was not keen to retain the player, who made 13 appearances in his Blackpool career, and he could link up again with his father at Perth Glory in Australia.

Meanwhile, defender Phil Doughty has returned from an unsuccessful loan spell at Conference side Leigh RMI.
