Heinz move collapses

Marek Heinz's proposed move to Sparta Prague has fallen through.

Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marek Heinz's proposed move to Sparta Prague has fallen through.

The Czech Republic international was desperate to leave the Foals after failing to hold down a regular first team place this season and had agreed terms with Sparta before the deal broke down on Thursday.

Gladbach had hoped to loan Heinz under amateur status until the end of the campaign, but potential problems over his future transfer rights have now led to them pulling out of the deal.

Sparta chairman Daniel Kretinsky revealed that the clubs had discussed a regular transfer but the Czech side were not prepared to pay Gladbach's ‚é¼1.5 million asking price.

The two sides will start talking again once the current season is over, he added.

"I'm very sad," commented Heinze. "But I have to accept the situation and will stay at Gladbach for now."
