Premiership's most clincal finisher
Opta's stats tell us who is The Premiership's most clinical finisher.
When it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net, most people would assume that a striker would be the most clinical finisher.
But this season, no-one in The Premiership can compare to Fredrik Ljungberg in putting their chances away.
Arsenal's Swedish midfielder has converted a higher percentage of his chances than any player in the top flight this season. Ljungberg has turned nine of his 24 shots into goals - a percentage conversion rate of 37.5%.
Second on the list is Crystal Palace's Andy Johnson, who has netted 18 goals, but when penalties are removed from the calculation, his conversion rate drops to less than half that of Ljungberg.
Henrik Pedersen and El Hadji Diouf of Bolton are the next two most clinical players in the list, though neither has played enough or attempted enough shots to make significant in-roads into the top goalscorers list.
The same could be said of Mark Viduka at Middlesbrough. Despite missing some clear chances against Everton in his last game, Milan Baros has also converted a decent percentage of chances during this campaign.
Ljungberg's team-mate Robert Pires has also showed an ability to turn a chance into a goal, while The Premiership's leading marksman Thierry Henry has converted a good proportion of his chances and indeed, all his 22 goals have been scored from open play - the France international missed the one penalty he has taken this season.
