Lehmann banned by Uefa

Jens Lehmann has been banned for two European matches by Uefa.

Jens Lehmann has been banned for two European matches by Uefa.

The Arsenal goalkeeper sprayed water towards the match official as Arsenal bowed out of the UEFA Champions League to Bayern Munich and has been sanctioned for his actions.

Lehmann will now miss two games in European competition, most likely to be the Champions League with Arsenal next season.

The German goalkeeper has been accused of showing a 'striking lack or respect towards the referee.'

A statement from Uefa reads: "Jens Lehmann has been suspended for two Uefa club matches after twice throwing water over referee Massimo De Santis and assistant referee Cristiano Copelli in the players' tunnel at the end of the second leg of the Uefa Champions League first knockout round encounter with FC Bayern Munchen at Highbury.

"Lehmann was therefore found guilty of a deliberate pestering act that displayed a 'striking lack of respect towards the referee'."
