Totti issues apology
Roma captain Francesco Totti has apologised for his red card against Siena.
Roma captain Francesco Totti has publicly apologised for the red card he received in last week's defeat to Siena. The Italy striker was handed a five-match ban after clashing with Siena's Igor Tudor and Francesco Colonnese in Roma's 2-0 defeat at Stadio Olimpico last Wednesday.
The Italian FA also hit Totti with a é¼500 fine for unsporting behaviour while Roma fined him 30 percent of his monthly wage.
Totti, who is set to appeal against his lengthy ban, believes Tudor and Colonnese are not immune from punishment following the incident.
"I want to apologise because I know I have been wrong," Totti told 'Roma Channel'.
"I know I have to give a good example, but that has not been the case.
"It's right I pay [a fine] although the ban seems a little excessive to me.
"Also, everyone who says bad words about your private life, wounding you as a father, man and husband would have to be punished as well.
"I must be safeguarded, although I know I should not get involved in these types of provocations."
