Slovakia are hoping Robert Vittek will be fit for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Slovakia are hoping Robert Vittek will be fit for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers after naming the Nurnberg striker in their squad.Vittek has missed Slovakia's last two matches on the road to Germany 2006 after undergoing an operation on his knee.
He is now back in action and has been named by coach Dusan Galis for the games against Portugal and Luxembourg in the coming week.
But Vittek is not quite 100 percent fit and Galis will leave a decision on the forward's participation until as late as possible.
The trip to Portugal on Saturday is a key game for Slovakia, as the two teams are level on points at the top of Group Three, and Galis is hoping his nation can reach the World Cup finals.
"We are alive in the qualification and none of us want to underestimate anything in preparations," said Galis.
"We are in a good position and are taking our next two matches very seriously."
