Bristol City have completed the signing of Marcus Stewart. The Robins have been chasing Stewart after it was revealed that he was being released by Sunderland.
Stewart was told he would not be offered a new contract at Sunderland despite helping them win promotion to The Premiership.
Stewart has signed a two-year deal at Ashton Gate and City boss Brian Tinnion will be hoping that the former Ipswich striker can help fire his side towards promotion from League One.
Bristol City have beaten a host of clubs to Stewart's signature with the player preferring to move to his hometown club.
"I supported them as a kid and still look out for the results now," he told Sky Sports News.
"Obviously it's very difficult for me to get to games as I play most Saturdays but I do try to get to what ones I can and watched the ones on TV like Tranmere and Brentford last year.
"So it's nice to be playing for a team I supported as a kid.
"A lot of things have changed at this ground and the club since I was here last.
"To be fair, it was more or less sorted out pretty quick but the fact I was on holiday for two or three weeks soon as the season finished meant we had to wait for that..
"The negotiations were pretty much sorted within two meetings.
"Them making me a player at this club is one of the proudest moments of my career so it wasn't a hard decision to make."
