Brazil roll over Greece

Brazil kicked-off their Confederations Cup campaign with a classy 3-0 win.

European Champions Greece were always looking to contain the Samba boys and once they fell behind could have lost by a greater margin.

It was Brazil who created the better chances in the opening 45 minutes, but it took a piece of brilliance from Adriano to break the deadlock.

Sotiris Kyrgiakos should have done better after just two minutes with a free header while Adriano scuffed his shot at the other end.

Robinho was the key man for Brazil and he consistently tormented Otto Rehhagel's men but the Real Madrid target could not match his build-up play with a finish.

Just when it looked like Brazil might end the half frustrated, Adriano proved he is one of the world's best with a thumping left-footed drive from 25 yards out that left Antonis Nikopolidis clutching at air.

Still reeling from conceding just before the break Greece fell further behind within 60 second of the restart.

Gilberto's surging run down the left caused Greece problems and his pin-point cross was superbly converted by Robinho sliding in at the far post.

Ronaldinho, who was lively throughout, almost caught Nikopolidis off guard with a low free kick, but the shot-stopper managed to hold on.

Substitute Juninho Pernambucano settled the contest in the closing stages with a magical free kick from outside the box that left Nikopolidis standing in admiration.

Robinho thought he had bagged his second after putting the ball into the net with five minutes remaining, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
