McNamara fumes at Celtic

Jackie McNamara has aimed another swipe at Celtic.

Jackie McNamara has aimed another swipe at Celtic, claiming they are trying to turn the club's supporters against him.

The Scottish international quit Celtic earlier this week to join Wolves in acrimonious circumstances.

McNamara rejected a new deal at Celtic to leave claiming the club did not do enough to keep him.

Celtic hit back at McNamara's claims suggesting they had offered the defender a lucrative deal to stay at the club only for the player to take up the offer from Wolves.

McNamara believes the club are now trying to portray him as greedy to get supporters on their side.

"My reputation is being damaged in the eyes of the Celtic supporters and I'm not having that," McNamara told the Daily Record.

"I told Gordon I was not going to be accused of being a money-grabbing mercenary who had moved the goalposts during contract talks when my move to Wolves has got nothing to do with hard cash.

"I'm going to Molineux for the same money I got in my last season at Celtic.

"I am very angry over the way I've been treated because I feel my name has been dragged through the mud to spare Celtic`s blushes."
