Robert had Spurs option
Guingamp's Bertrand Robert has admitted he had the chance to join Tottenham.
Guingamp winger Bertrand Robert has admitted he had the chance to join Tottenham.
Robert, younger brother of Portsmouth new boy Laurent, still has ambitions of furthering his career as Guingamp face another season in Ligue 2.
The Frenchman is upset that he was unable to obtain promotion to Ligue 1 after finishing out of the promotion spots.
"Before being signed by Guingamp, I could have signed with Tottenham or PSG, perhaps even Valencia," he explained to Le Foot.
"It could be settled.
"I came here to get back to Ligue 1 and it is a disappointment.
"I will do my best to rejoin the elite as soon as possible.
"I still have two years remaining on my contract and Guingamp does remain a good club."
The 21-year-old joined his current club from Montpellier but, despite his five goals in 29 games, was unable to help them finish above seventh in the table.
