Norwich City have accepted an offer from Borussia Monchengladbach for Thomas Helveg. The veteran defender is poised to link up with the German outfit after Norwich agreed a é¼200,000 (£135,000) deal with the Foals.
The Canaries will also receive a further é¼50,000 (£34,000) once Helveg has made 10 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
Canaries chief executive Neil Doncaster confirmed talks had been fruitful with Gladbach and is now waiting for Helveg to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.
"Thomas is expected to fly out to Germany tomorrow to try and agree personal terms and will undergo a medical on Wednesday," Doncaster told the club's official website.
Helveg only moved to Carrow Road from Internazionale last summer and made 23 appearances during his time in East Anglia.
Though Norwich were relegated from The Premiership, Helveg had stated he would see out the remaining year of his contract with the club.
But, after training with OB Odense in his homeland at the end of the season, Helveg had been warned by Denmark coach Morten Olsen he would have to move to preserve his international prospects.
The 34-year-old appears to have succumbed to Olsen's wishes and will aim to seal a deal with Gladbach in the coming days.
