Hedman leaves Celtic

Celtic have parted company with goalkeeper Magnus Hedman.

Celtic have parted company with goalkeeper Magnus Hedman.

The Swede joined The Bhoys in 2002 from Coventry for a fee of £1.5 million.

However, he has always struggled to hold down a regular first team place firstly with Rab Douglas his way, and then latterly youngster David Marshall.

Celtic confirmed that Hedman had now left the club.

"Celtic Football Club confirms that Magnus Hedman's contract with the club was brought to an end with effect from June 30 2005, by agreement between the player and the club," said a club statement.

"The club is grateful for Magnus's contribution to the team's success in recent years and wishes him well in his future playing career."
