Villa complete Baros deal

Aston Villa have completed the tranfer of Liverpool's Milan Baros.

Milan Baros has been unveiled at Aston Villa having completed his big money switch from Liverpool.

The Villans have been in protracted talks to land the Czech Republic international and have announced that a £6.5 million pound deal for the striker has been completed.

Baros has already indicated that he is relishing the prospect of playing for Villa, whilst David O'Leary will be delighted to have signed such a high profile marksman.

O'Leary had asked for patience after the sale of Darius Vassell to Manchester City this summer, and has now brought in a big name in world football.

Baros has never quite replicated his international form at club level in England, but will be keen to show that topping the goalscorer charts at Euro 2004 was no fluke.

The Czech star has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Villa, and could make his debut against Blackburn at Villa Park on Saturday.

Baros is confident Villa can push for European football this season and is clearly looking forward to a new challenge in the Midlands.

''Of course I am very pleased to join Villa,'' Baros told Villa's website.

''It is not easy to leave Liverpool, but Villa are also a big club, so I am happy to come here.

"It is nice to be here and I am looking forward to making my debut on Saturday against Blackburn at Villa Park, when I will do my very best to open with a goal.

"I spoke to David O'Leary at length and he was a big factor in my deciding to come here. It was a big decision for me, but if the manager wants you it is easier and David's influence was one of the reasons I am here.''
