Aston Villa have swooped to sign Leeds midfielder Eirik Bakke on loan.

The Norwegian international will stay at Villa Park on loan until January 31 after they thrashed out a deal with Leeds.

Villa boss David O'Leary knows all about Bakke as he was his second signing when he was in charge at Leeds.

Bakke has only recently returned from injury after seeing his career blighted by a series of problems in the last two years.

The 27-year-old is the third new arrival at Villa in the last week following the captures of Milan Baros and Wilfred Bouma.

Meanwhile, former Leeds youngster Chris Jones has joined Irish side Limerick FC

Jones has signed a one-year deal with the option of another two years if he impresses.
