Sweeney fee set
Stoke have been ordered to pay Millwall up to £250,000 for winger Peter Sweeney.
Stoke have been ordered to pay Millwall up to £250,000 for winger Peter Sweeney. The 20-year-old Scot arrived at The Britannia Stadium in the summer from Millwall, but the two clubs could not agree a fee.
Now a Football League tribunal has ruled that Stoke must pay an initial payment of £150,000 plus extra add-ons that could see another £100,000 go The Lions' way.
Millwall will be owed an extra £25,000 after every 15 games - up to a maximum of 60, plus 15 percent of any future transfer fee.
The South London club will also gain another £25,000 if Sweeny makes his full international debut for Scotland.
Stoke were happy with the outcome and chief executive Tony Scholes commented: "We're satisfied that we received a fair hearing and it's only right and proper that Millwall should be compensated for the part they've played in Peter's development."
