Ascoli land late loan

Ascoli made a late transfer swoop by landing Valerio Virga on loan.

The newly-promoted Serie A side obtained an extension to the transfer window due to the fact they only found out about their promotion late in the summer.

On the final day of their extension, Ascoli have lured talented young midfielder Virga from Palermo on loan.

Virga emerged in the Roma youth team and made his first Serie A appearance last season, but moved to Sicily this summer.

He was not likely to get regular first team action at Palermo, however, and has gone in search of more football at Ascoli.
