Camara gets France call

St Etienne defender Zoumana Camara has been drafted in to the France squad.

St Etienne defender Zoumana Camara has been drafted in to the France squad to provide cover.

Camara has been called up for the World Cup qualifiers against Switzerland and Cyprus due to concerns over Lilian Thuram.

The Juventus defender is carrying a muscle injury and France coach Raymond Domenech has moved to ensure he has a suitable replacement.

Former Leeds United loanee Camara has enjoyed an impressive start to the season with St Etienne and has been rewarded with a late call-up.

He has made just one previous appearance for Les Bleus, with his international debut coming against Australia in the 2001 Confederations Cup.
