Arteta reveals Spain dream

Mikel Arteta has revealed he hopes to win a call-up into the Spain squad for the World Cup.

The former Real Sociedad star has yet to win a cap for his country despite representing Spain at Under-21 level.

Spain booked their place at the World Cup finals on Wednesday overcoming Slovakia in the play-offs and Arteta is now aiming to break into Luis Aragones' plans for Germany next summer.

"Hopefully I will get that chance," said Arteta.

"People were worried after the qualification group because we did so badly, but now we look like we are doing better.

"I have played in the Under-21s for my country but I have never played for the main side.

"One of my dreams is to play for Spain. That has been my dream since I was young."
