Henry hails Lupoli
Thierry Henry believes Arsenal have a ready made successor in Arturo Lupoli.
The Premiership's top marksman, Thierry Henry believes Arsenal have a ready made successor in the guise of Arturo Lupoli.Henry is one of the finest players ever to grace the English top flight and recently usurped Ian Wright as Arsenal's all-time leading scorer.
At 28, the Frenchman arguably has his best years ahead of him but he feels that in Lupoli, The Gunners have a player capable of filling his boots.
Lupoli is in the fledgling stage of his career and has yet to see competitive action in The Premiership, but he gave a glimpse of his quality when climbing off the bench to net Arsenal's third in the Carling Cup win over Reading and Henry feels he will score goals at any level.
"Lupoli is scoring plenty of goals again for the reserves this season and he will score goals in any country, in any division, on any training ground - he is a proper goalscorer," said Henry.
"He is like the old type of goalscorer, like the Paolo Rossi type, the ball just bounces somewhere and he will be there. If you give him any space you are dead."
Henry appears to be thriving on the responsibility of being captain and says he regularly gives advice to the young Gunners.
"I try to talk to our young players here, especially the forwards," added Henry. "I try to give them advice on what to do and it is up to them if they want to listen.
"If they get the chance I am hoping the youngsters can do what I know they are capable of."
