Rooney humbled by Best talk
Wayne Rooney is staying modest after being likened to George Best.
Wayne Rooney has admitted he is humbled by talk comparing him with Manchester United legend George Best. After a stunning performance in the victory over West Ham on Sunday, Sir Alex Ferguson claimed that the 20-year-old was the best young talent he had seen in his time, prompting inevitable comparisons with Best.
Rooney has revealed that he was flattered by the praise, but insists that he has a long way to go before he can be likened to Best.
"George Best was one of the best players in the world, if not the best player in the world, so I've got a long way to go before I reach those heights," he reflected.
"But hopefully one day in the future people will be talking about me like that."
