Boyd seals Gers move

Rangers have completed the signing of Kilmarnock striker Kris Boyd.

Rangers have completed the signing of Kilmarnock striker Kris Boyd on a three-and-a-half year contract.

The Gers opened negotiations with Boyd on Thursday after the SPL rivals agreed a fee in the region of £500,000 for the Scot's services.

And despite interest from Sheffield Wednesday, Boyd, a lifelong Gers supporter, took little time to come to an agreement with the Ibrox club.

Subject to receiving his registration on January 1, Boyd will make his debut in the Scottish Cup tie against Peterhead six days later.

The move signals a major step up in the career of Boyd who will now be available to play in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

It is an opportunity the 22-year-old is keen to grasp after finally drawing a line under weeks of transfer speculation.

"I was at the games at Ibrox as Rangers qualified for the last 16 and to have the chance of playing is fantastic," Boyd told the club's official website.

"It's quite a difference from playing at Kilmarnock in the SPL where reaching the top six of the league is a good achievement.

"It's fantastic to finally sign for the club. There has been a lot of speculation in recent weeks and I'm really pleased that it is now all done and dusted."
