Reo-Coker escapes FA wrath
Nigel Reo-Coker's foul on Michael Essien will not be punished by The FA.
The Football Association have confirmed they will be taking no action against West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker following Bank Holiday Monday's clash with Chelsea.
Reo-Coker's robust challenge on Michael Essien left the Ghana international leaving the field on a stretcher and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho seething about what he perceives is a witch hunt against his player.
Whilst absolving Reo-Coker of any intent, Mourinho questioned whether there would have been a greater furore had it been Essien making the challenge rather than receiving it.
Match referee Howard Webb saw the incident, gave a foul, but elected not to produce a card for Reo-Coker and this seems to have worked in the player's favour with regards to any post-match punishment that may have been dished out.
Essien has suffered swelling to his ankle but as yet there have been no confirmed reports of how long he will be sidelined for.
