Neil Warnock wants the Cardiff City striker to fire his side into The Premiership alongside Steve Kabba, who recently pledged his future to The Blades.

Norwich City have already confirmed their interest in signing the Huddersfield-born marksman as a replacement for the seemingly Premiership-bound Dean Ashton, although United are now ready to test The Bluebirds' resolve with a bid around the £2 million mark.

City boss Dave Jones has already declared that it will take much more than that to prise his star man away from Ninian Park.

"No-one has made an offer," he told the club's official website. "If someone wants Cameron Jerome and the price is right for the football club, then of course you have to consider it.

"But if you are looking at £2 million then you are kidding yourself, because that must be the down-payment.

"I don't want to let anybody go but if I have to let someone go to get people in, then so be it."

West Brom marksman Geoff Horsfield is also on Warnock's hit-list, although that interest may cool if he is successful in landing Jerome.

And it is understood that the Blades boss would like to snare Preston defender Chris Lucketti in an effort to bolster their back line.
