Mourinho warning for Del Horno

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says he expects more from summer signing Asier del Horno.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says he expects more from summer signing Asier Del Horno.

The Spain international arrived at Stamford Bridge in an £8 million move from Athletic Bilbao in June but while Mourinho is happy enough with his form, he believes there is plenty of room for improvement.

And with England defender Wayne Bridge now fully fit after his ankle injury, Del Horno could face the prospect of losing his first team place if he doesn't kick on over the second half of the season.

"Del Horno has already shown his capacity but he needs to learn to be more ambitious and demanding with himself," said Mourinho.

"He has a couple of months more to make a step forward as a professional, otherwise he will take a step back."

Bridge has made only one appearance this season, in the Carling Cup defeat to Charlton, but he is expected to start the FA Cup tie against Huddersfield on Saturday.
