Scimeca heads to Wales

Cardiff City have signed West Bromwich Albion utility man Riccardo Scimeca.

Cardiff City have signed West Bromwich Albion utility man Riccardo Scimeca on a free transfer.

The former Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Leicester City man has initially joined the South Wales club on loan in order to be eligible for Saturday's Championship clash against Burnley.

The 30-year-old will seal his permanent move to Ninian Park on Sunday - thus ending a 20-month spell with The Baggies.

Scimeca struggled to make an impact for Bryan Robson's side this season, with just three first-team appearances for the Black Country club to his name.

He joins former Albion player Darren Purse and on-loan West Brom man Jason Koumas in Dave Jones's squad, as Cardiff continue to bring in new faces in the January transfer window.
