Thelwell hoping for new deal

Alton Thelwell is hoping to earn a new contract with Hull after returning from injury.

Hull star Alton Thelwell is hoping to earn a new contract with the club after finally returning to action from injury.

The 25-year-old defender started his first game in 16 months at Cardiff on Saturday after recovering from a double knee fracture, and is now hoping to extend his stay with The Tigers beyond the end of the season.

"The last 12 games will be a chance for me to win a contract but I just want to take it slowly because of the injury," he explained.

"I've got a contract until the end of the season and I would love to get some more games under my belt.

"I only want to take it game-by-game and week-by-week before I start getting ahead of myself. It's up to the club at the end of the season. I'll give it my best shot."
