Micoud: Domenech is a blind man
Johan Micoud believes that he should have been named in France's squad.
Johan Micoud has slammed France coach Raymond Domenech after being left out of the squad to face Slovakia in next month's friendly. The Werder Bremen midfielder has been in impressive form in Die Bundesliga this season, and was influential in the side's thrilling 3-2 UEFA Champions League victory over Juventus in midweek.
However, he has been overlooked for France's pre-World Cup friendly, prompting a furious rant about Domenech's selection policy.
Micoud is utterly baffled by the snub, believing that he fully deserved to be included and is struggling to come up with possible reasons for the coach's decision.
"I don't understand why I have not been selected for the French squad," he told L'est Republican. "Everybody can see my performances for Bremen, except for one man.
"Domenech must be a blind man. His job is to call up the best players of the moment, but to my mind, that is not what he does.
"He was my coach at Under-21 level, 10 years ago, but apart from that I have never been contacted by him.
"Maybe I am not in the squad because my star sign is Leo, and there are too many in the French team."
His criticism of Domenech could prove unwise though, with the coach famous for continuing to leave out stars such as Nicolas Anelka and Robert Pires in the past when they have voiced their opinions against him.
