Bees loan Robin

Brentford have signed Bristol City right back Jamie Smith on a month's loan.

Brentford have signed Bristol City right back Jamie Smith on a month's loan.

The 31-year-old returns to London for an initial four-week stint with Martin Allen's side, having joined his parent club from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2004.

Smith leaves Ashton Gate after being made surplus to requirements by Robins boss Gary Johnson, with the former City captain having made just one substitute appearance since the start of 2006.

Smith will be available for Brentford's crucial clash at League One promotion rivals Swansea City on Friday evening.

"He has a wealth of experience, comes with very good personal references and he will be joining us at training tomorrow (Wednesday) and going into our squad for Friday night," Allen told Brentford's official website.
