Savio to quit Zaragoza

Savio has informed Zaragoza that he wants to leave the club at the end of the season.

Savio has informed Real Zaragoza that he wants to leave the club at the end of the season and return to his native Brazil.

The little South American joined Zaragoza from Bordeaux in the summer of 2003 and has been a big success at La Romareda.

He has not been a regular this term, but has still contributed six goals in 19 starts including his side's strike in the 2-1 home loss to Cadiz last weekend.

However, the 32-year-old - who moved to Europe in 1997 when he left Flamengo for Real Madrid - insists he is now keen to return to his homeland to be closer to his family.

He still has one year left on his contract at Zaragoza who have made it clear they will not let him leave for free, but it seems certain an agreement will be reached to let him return home.

"I have been away from home for a long time and the nostalgia is growing greater all the time," Savio stated.

"I want to live in Rio de Janeiro and be close to my mother. My father died and she needs me."
