Chamakh staying with Bordeaux

Marouane Chamakh has pledged to stay at Bordeaux despite interest from Lyon.

Marouane Chamakh has pledged to stay at Bordeaux despite attracting interest from Lyon.

Lyon have expressed an interest in signing the Moroccan international as they look to continue their dominance in France.

Chamakh admitted he had considered a switch to Stade Gerland, but now with Bordeaux qualifying for the UEFA Champions League he plans to stay with Les Girondins.

"It will be no to Lyon," said Chamakh. "Last year, the prospect to play Champions League with Lyon made me think about (a move).

"But now Bordeaux is qualified to play Champions League, so I can refuse Lyon. I prefer to play the competition with Les Girondins.

"I can tell you that I am 100 percent committed to Bordeaux."

Meanwhile, Bruno Cheyrou is sweating over his future at Bordeaux.

Cheyrou has spent the whole season on loan at Bordeaux after dropping down the pecking order at Liverpool.

The former Lille ace has impressed at Bordeaux and they have expressed an interest in making his move permanent.

However, the deal has been placed in doubt with Liverpool believed to be looking more for Cheyrou than Bordeaux can afford.
