Le Guen claims first Gers signing

Paul Le Guen has made Libor Sionko his first signing as manager of Rangers.

Paul Le Guen has made Libor Sionko his first signing as manager of Rangers.

The Czech Republic international has agreed a three-year deal to move to the Ibrox club after concluding talks on Tuesday.

Sionko is a free agent having left Austria Vienna upon the expiry of his contract.

Sionko revealed on Tuesday that he had had offers from France and Germany but opted for a move to The Gers instead.

"It is a great privilege to join Rangers and I am eager to begin my new life in Scotland. I know I have signed for a massive club with many supporters and I can't wait to play in front of them at Ibrox next season," Sionko told the club's official website.

Le Guen added: "Libor is a player I have known about for a few years and I am delighted he will be joining me at Rangers next season."

The acquisition of Sionko is the first step in Le Guen's revamping of the Ibrox club's squad in the dawn of a new era for one half of Glasgow.
