Swindon unveil Wise

Swindon Town have unveiled Dennis Wise as the club's new player-manager.

Swindon Town have unveiled Dennis Wise as the club's new player-manager on a three-year deal.

The former England international is joined by former Chelsea team-mate Gustavo Poyet at The County Ground, with the ex-Uruguayan international becoming Wise's playing assistant at the Wiltshire club on a similar three-year contract.

Both men will also be registered as players by the club next season.

Wise succeeds Iffy Onuora after Swindon parted ways with him last week following the club's relegation to League Two.

It is Wise's first managerial appointment since his spell in charge of Millwall, having led The Lions to the FA Cup final two years ago.

He finished the past season in a playing capacity with Coventry City after an acrimonious departure with Championship rivals Southampton.

Wise's appointment is a major coup for the West Country outfit, as Swindon look to bounce back from dropping out of League One this past season.
