Shrews sign two more

Shrewsbury Town have signed midfielders Ben Davies and Dale Williams.

Shrewsbury Town have swooped to sign another former Chester City player in midfielder Ben Davies.

The 24-year-old joins Stuart Drummond and Chris MacKenzie in making the switch from The Saunders Honda Stadium to Gay Meadow this close season.

Davies has signed a three-year deal with the Shropshire outfit, despite the player attracting interest from a number of other clubs.

"Northampton, Bristol City, Yeovil Town, Port Vale all wanted him, sides from divisions higher than us and ones who were willing to offer him a lot more money," Shrews boss Gary Peters told the club's official website.

"A lot of credit has to go to Ben himself, as he's been offered a lot more money at clubs like Northampton, but he's made the decision purely for footballing reasons."

Davies has been joined by another new addition in winger Dale Williams from League One side Yeovil Town.

Williams arrives on a free transfer from Huish Park and has signed a two-year deal at Gay Meadow.

The 19-year-old was not offered a new contract by The Glovers and the left-sided midfielder has opted to continue his career with Shrewsbury.
