Milan have completed the signing of young French playmaker Yoann Gourcuff from Rennes. The attacking midfielder has secured a five-year deal at the San Siro after an outstanding season in Ligue 1.
He became the youngest ever player to win the top flight's Player of the Month award in March and immediately attracted interest from overseas.
Arsenal had been tipped to enter the race for his signature, but the player declared his interest in joining the Italian giants and now a deal has been reached.
"An agreement has finally been found between Stade Rennais and Milan for the transfer of the Under-21 international midfielder," a spokesman told the Rennes official website.
"At only 19, Yoann Gourcuff leaves his first club after having played 36 matches this season with the Rouges et Noirs."
Hailed as France's successor to Zinedine Zidane, the young attacker will now be hopeful of proving himself in Serie A and the dizzy heights of the UEFA Champions League.
