Emana keeps up Pompey hope
Toulouse's Achille Emana has not given up on a move to The Premiership.
Cameroon international Achille Emana has not given up on winning a move to The Premiership, despite failing to obtain a work permit. The Toulouse midfielder has other options, but is continuing to pursue his interest in a move to England.
Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp had been close to securing the player's services at Fratton Park for the coming season, and this news could well re-ignite his chase.
"I am still asking for authorisation to play in England," Emana told skysports.com.
"I have asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help me obtain French nationality. That would allow me to obtain a work permit.
"I have been in France for seven years, so I think it could be possible, but other clubs are interested.
"I am not in contact with Rennes, they have called Toulouse, but there is nothing more."
