Popular Athletic Bilbao midfielder Julen Guerrero has retired from professional football.
The former Spain international spent 14 years with his only club and made over 400 appearances for Bilbao.
He made his debut for the Basque side in 1992 and also won 41 caps for Spain, in addition to playing in the 1994 World Cup.
The 32-year-old, who was Bilbao's club captain, was under contract to play for the Liga outfit for a further season.
However, Guerrero has opted to quit playing and will now take up a role as a youth coach at San Mames, according to Bilbao president Fernando Lamikiz.
