Swede to seal Nantes switch
Christian Wilhelmsson will finally complete his much-anticipated move to Nantes.
Swedish star Christian Wilhelmsson will finally complete his much-anticipated move to Nantes on Tuesday. The Anderlecht winger has travelled to France to put pen-to-paper on his agreed three-year deal.
The deal was expected to go through earlier in the month after the two clubs agreed a fee in the region of é¼3.5 million (£2.4 million) but unexpected delays held up the switch.
Wilhelmsson has previously been criticised for not playing for the team but he is looking forward to helping Les Canaris reach their goals.
"Nantes' style is well known and appreciated," Wilhelmsson told Ouest-France.
"The ambition of the club to reach the top of the league convinced me to sign.
"My objectives are to obtain good results with Les Canaris, my personal situation doesn't come first.
"Some people think I like to keep the ball, but I am not an egoist."
Nantes chairman Ruddy Rousillon is excited by Wilhelmsson's capture and is expecting the Swedish international to play a huge role in the team's success next season.
"The signing corresponds totally with our policy to bring spectacular football back to Nantes," Rousillon added.
"Without a doubt he will be in our starting line-up."
