Cardiff sign Glombard

Cardiff City have made Nantes striker Luigi Glombard their ninth summer signing.

Cardiff City have made Nantes striker Luigi Glombard their ninth signing of the summer.

The 21-year-old joins The Bluebirds on a free transfer after being allowed to leave the French Ligue 1 club.

Glombard made 29 appearances for Les Canaris since making his debut for the club back in November 2002, having won the Under-17 World Cup with his native France.

Glombard follows Glenn Loovens, Kevin McNaughton, Roger Johnson, Stephen McPhail, Michael Chopra, Mark Howard, Malvin Kamara and Nick McKoy in being the latest summer signing at Ninian Park.

"Hopefully, Luigi will push Michael Chopra and Steve Thompson and provide competition for places," said Cardiff chairman Sam Hammam.

Cardiff, meanwhile, have continued their pre-season preparations in North America with a 1-1 draw with Seattle Sounders in Washington State on Tuesday.

Dave Jones's side now head back to British Columbia to participate in the Vancouver Whitecaps Nations Cup, with the South Wales club due to face China's Under-20 squad on Friday.
