Perez quits Danish set-up

Kenneth Perez has decided to end his international career with Denmark.

Kenneth Perez  has decided to end his international career with the Denmark national team.

The 31-year-old forward has decided to concentrate his exertions on his club football at Ajax, quitting the international scene with 19 caps to his name.

Perez has only recently made the switch to Amsterdam from AZ Alkmaar and he feels the time is now right to step aside for the young talent coming through.

''I am looking back with a lot happiness to my matches which I played for Denmark,'' he told Ajax's official website.

''Despite of that, this was the best moment to quit. Young talent can get a chance now in the squad and I can fully concentrate on Ajax.

''I wish the coach and players very much success with the coming qualification for the European Championships in 2008 and want to thank them for their fantastic co-operation.''
