Spurs back in for Wigan ace

Skysports.com understand Spurs have made a fresh bid for Pascal Chimbonda.

In one of the more protracted transfer chases of the summer Tottenham have repeatedly tried to land the France international, who is more than eager to make the move to White Hart Lane.

Last term saw the emergence of Chimbonda as one of The Premiership's best attacking full backs, with his performances for Wigan earning a call-up to France's World Cup squad.

The former Bastia man decided at the close of the past campaign that he was ready to try a new challenge and submitted a written transfer request.

Wigan responded by setting a fee that no suitor has yet matched but it has now become apparent that Spurs have renewed initial interest.

Tottenham are eager to bring Chimbonda to North London before the new season commences but it remains to be seen whether Wigan consent to the player's wishes and accept their latest offer.
