Police drop Lita case

Police have dropped their investigations into allegations about Reading's Leroy Lita.

Reading striker Leroy Lita is free to resume his footballing career after police dropped their investigations into allegations about his conduct.

The England Under-21 international was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm on August 26, following claims by a local man that he was attacked in Bristol.

Lita, who signed for £1 million from Bristol City last summer, stood accused of head-butting the man.

But a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police has now confirmed the complaint against the Congo-born star has been abandoned.

"The 21-year-old man bailed last month pending further enquiries will face no further action," the spokesman stated.

"The 24-year-old who made the allegation has now withdrawn the complaint."

Lita, who starred in the Premiership new boys' 2-1 win at Sheffield United on Saturday, will hope to add to his one-goal haul so far this season in the Royals' Carling Cup match against Darlington on Tuesday.
